Oilers home opener set for October 24
August 6, 2009 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Tulsa Oilers News Release
The Tulsa Oilers make each one of their home games like a holiday, and that will be more prevalent than ever in the 2009-10 Central Hockey League season. In addition, three teams will make their first visits to the BOK Center.
Once again this season the Oilers will host 32 games at the BOK Center, voted the best arena in last season's CHL Best of the Best poll. Holiday games include Thanksgiving Night (Thursday November 26^th vs. Missouri Mavericks at 7:05 p.m.), Christmas Night (Friday December 25^th vs. Wichita Thunder at 7:35 p.m.) and New Years Eve (Thursday December 31^st vs. Mississippi RiverKings at 7:05 p.m.). Teams making their initial visit to the BOK Center include Missouri, the Allen Americans and Arizona Sundogs.
Twenty-two weekend dates highlight the Oilers' home schedule. Included in those will be five Sunday afternoon family days, with special discounted offers for families. The Oilers begin the season visiting Mississippi on Friday October 16^th . They open the home slate Saturday October 24^th against Wichita.
The Oilers will end the season on a six game road trip, which will include a school day matinee against the Amarillo Gorillas on March 16^th . The regular season concludes March 20^th with the Oilers visiting Mississippi.
Fifteen teams will play in the CHL this season. The league is divided into two conferences with the North featuring the Oilers, Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs, Colorado Eagles, Mississippi, Missouri, Rapid City Rush, and Wichita. The South consists of Allen, Amarillo, Arizona, Corpus Christi IceRays, Laredo Bucks, Odessa Jackalopes, Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees, and Texas Brahmas. The top five teams in each conference qualify for the Ray Miron President Cup playoffs.
The Oilers will not play Corpus Christi or Odessa this season, and Laredo will also not visit the BOK Center. The Oilers will not travel to Arizona.
