Amarillo, TX 8/6/09 - The Amarillo Gorillas will open the 2009-2010 Central Hockey League regular season schedule at the new Intrust Bank Center versus the Wichita Thunder on Friday. October, 16th (7:05pm). The Gorillas will play their home opener the following night, Saturday, October 17th (7:05pm). Opening weekend will conclude Sunday, October 18th (4:05pm) at home versus the Mississippi RiverKings.
The Gorillas are scheduled to play 64 games during the 2009-2010 campaign, with 32 games at the Amarillo Civic Center and 32 on the road. The home schedule features 29 weekend games (eight Friday, eleven Saturday, ten Sunday). All home games Monday through Saturday will begin at 7:05pm, while Sunday games will start at 4:05pm. The Gorillas will host a "Kid's Day" contest Tuesday, March 16th (11:05am).
The Gorillas longest home stand will be a four-game stretch from December 7th until December 13th (Bossier-Shreveport, Colorado, Arizona, and Odessa). Amarillo plays the day after Thanksgiving at home (November 27th versus Rio Grande Valley) and the day after Christmas at home (December 26th versus Rio Grande Valley). The Gorillas longest stretch away from the Panhandle is a six-game swing from February 24th until March 4th (six games).
