Mississippi RiverKings News Release

(Southaven, MS) --- The Central Hockey League (CHL) Mississippi RiverKings have announced the team's 2009-2010 regular season schedule. The 64-game run toward the league's Ray Miron President's Cup championship for the RiverKings will begin on Friday, October 16th with the RiverKings hosting the Tulsa Oilers at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven and will end on Saturday, March 20th again with the RiverKings hosting the Oilers.

In between, last year's Northeast Division champion RiverKings will face every team but two during the regular season. Arizona and Laredo are the only CHL squads not on the schedule this year.

The most frequent opponents for the RiverKings will be long-time rival Tulsa and league newcomer Missouri. Each opponent will meet the RiverKings eleven times, with Tulsa visiting the DCC five times and Missouri appearing in the Mid-South six times in the franchise's first foray into the CHL.

In addition to Tulsa and Missouri, the RiverKings' most frequent opponents will be Bossier-Shreveport (10 times, 6 at home), Allen, Rapid City, and Wichita (7 times each, 4 at home vs. Wichita and 3 at home vs. Allen and Rapid City), and Texas (4 times with 3 at home). The RiverKings will play Colorado three times with one meeting at home, will host Odessa once, and have solo visits to Amarillo, Corpus Christi, and Rio Grande Valley.

The longest home stand of the season will occur three times this year. The RiverKings will have four-game home stands from October 25th to November 3rd (Wichita, Tulsa, Bossier-Shreveport, Texas), from January 22nd to 28th (Missouri twice and Rapid City twice), and at the end of the season from March 12th to 20th (Texas, Bossier-Shreveport, and Tulsa twice).

This season, the 15 CHL teams have been divided into Northern and Southern Conferences without divisional alignments. The seven Northern Conference teams include the RiverKings, Bossier-Shreveport, Colorado, Missouri, Rapid City, Tulsa, and Wichita, while the eight Southern Conference team are last year's CHL champion Texas Brahmas, the expansion Allen, Texas franchise, Amarillo, Arizona, Corpus Christi, Laredo, Odessa, and Rio Grande Valley.

The RiverKings will be away from home the longest late in the season in a five-game tour from March 2nd to 11th (Tulsa, Allen twice, Missouri, and Bossier-Shreveport).
