Killer Bees Announce 2009-2010 Schedule

HIDALGO, TEXAS --- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League (CHL) today announced the schedule for the 2009-10 season. RGV will play 64 regular season games with 32 of those at Dodge Arena. The season opener is set for Saturday, October 17, vs. the Laredo Bucks at 7:30 p.m.

Season and group tickets are already on sale by calling 956-843-PUCK (7825), while individual game tickets will be made available in early October.

The Killer Bees will play a total of 25 weekend dates with 24 Friday and Saturday matchups. Also included is one Sunday contest, three Tuesday and Wednesday games and one Thursday morning.

RGV will play every CHL team at least once at home and 10 of the other 14 teams on the road. RGV does not visit Colorado, Mississippi, Rapid City or Wichita this season. Regional play will be predominant once again with RGV battling Corpus Christi and Laredo a combined 28 times (seven home, seven road each).

Highlights of the home schedule include the annual Thanksgiving Eve game on Wednesday, November 25, vs. Bossier-Shreveport at 7:30 p.m. The expansion Allen Americans make their first visit to Hidalgo on Friday, October 30, while expansion counterparts the Missouri Mavericks make their first and only trip to the Hive on Nov. 6 and 7. The Killer Bees will host the annual school day game on Thursday, March 11 at 10:30 a.m. vs. Arizona.

"The Central Hockey League and Dodge Arena have provided us with exceptional dates for our home games," said Killer Bees General manager Grant W. Buckborough. "We have another tremendous schedule with 24 of our home games on Friday or Saturday nights. Our Southwest Division rivalries will once again be strong and the schedule makes it easy for fans of all three teams to cheer for their team on the road."
