Oilers-Austin Match up
December 7, 2007 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Tulsa Oilers News Release
*Hodge Era Begins:* The Tulsa Oilers host the Austin Ice Bats tonight, the fourth game of a seven game homestand. It's also the first game for Dan Hodge as head coach of the Oilers. He assumed the head coaching duties Monday, upon the resignation of Butch Kaebel.
*Records: *Oilers are 5-10-1 with 11 points in fourth place in the Northwest Division.
Austin is 5-14-1 with 11 points in fourth place in the Southeast Division.
*Season Series: *This is first and only meeting of the season this year between these two teams.
*Recent Action: *The Oilers are coming off a 3-0 shutout last Saturday night against Bossier-Shreveport. Austin is coming off a 4-1 loss at Texas on Tuesday night. Prior to that, Austin had three straight shootout games and went 2-1 in those contests.
*Specialty Problems:* Something will have to give if Austin takes a penalty tonight. The Oilers have struggled on the power play, at just 7.9 percent, last in the league. But Austin has struggled as well killing penalties, at just 74 percent, also last in the league in that category.
*Hot Bo:* Team captain David Alexandre Beauregard has been hot on the three games of this homestand so far. He has scored five goals in the three games, including three shorthanded goals. He has three of the Oilers' four shorthanded goals this season. Brent McMann has the other.
*Welcome To Town: *The Oilers today added left winger Robin Richards, who played 16 games with Odessa this season. He had one assist, was a +1, and among his 61 penalty minutes were five minutes for a fight with the Oilers Jeff Christian on November 27.
*Up Next:* The Oilers are right back at home tomorrow night, hosting the Oklahoma City Blazers at 7:35 p.m. Tomorrow night is also the second night of the Oilers collection of food and clothing for the Salvation Army. Austin returns home to face Rio Grande Valley tomorrow night.
