Amarillo Gorillas News Release

Oklahoma City, OK - Another road game, and another disappointing outcome for the Gorillas, as they fell to the Oklahoma City Blazers by a final score of 6-3 on Friday night. Amarillo remains winless on the road so far this season, now with a record of 0-9-1 away from the Civic Center. Friday night was a special night for the Blazers, as they became the first team in the Central Hockey League to play their 1000th game, with Mississippi, Wichita and Tulsa set to reach the same milestone by the end of next weekend.

Amarillo would score the first goal of the game, as David Nimmo got his tenth of the year, beating Sean Connors just 10:20 into the first period. Oklahoma City would get two however before the period ended, and took a 2-1 lead into the second.

Amarillo would trail for the rest of the game, as Dallas Flaman scored two goals in the contest to lead the Blazers. Chris Lipsett got one for the Gorillas in the second, and David Nimmo would get his second of the game in the third period to cut the lead to 5-3. Marty Standish's empty net goal at 19:51 would seal the Gorillas fate however, as Oklahoma City took the one and only match-up between the two teams this season.

The Gorillas travel to Fort Worth tonight to take on the Texas Brahmas tomorrow night at the NYTEX Sports Center. Game time is set for 7:05 PM, and the broadcast can be heard starting at 6:50 PM on 1010 AM The Canyon.
