
Bucks Lose 3-2 In Shootout To Brahmas

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League lost to the Texas Brahmas 3-2 in a shootout Friday night at the NYTEX Sports Centre. With the loss the Bucks fall to 16-4-2 (34points).
Rane Carnegie tied the game for the Bucks on the power-play at 2-2 with 1:48 left in the third period. It was Carnegie's eight goal of the season.
Texas won the shootout 2-1 as Jordan Cameron and Anders Strom scored for the Brahamas, with Carnegie scoring for Laredo in the shootout. Adam Rivet was the last Laredo shooter and his shot was stopped by Brahmas goalie David Cacciola, giving Texas the win.
The Bucks took a 1-0 lead with just 53 seconds left in the first period as Andrew Desjardins scored his seventh goal of the season off of a wrist shot from the bottom of the left circle. Desjardins goal was unassisted.
The Bucks outshot the Brahmas in the first period 10-6, with Laredo goaltender Kevin Beech setting aside all six Texas shots, and Brahmas goaltender David Cacciola stopping nine of ten Bucks attempts.
The Bucks came up empty on two power-plays in the first period.
The Brahmas tied the game up just 2:45 into the second period as Jordan Cameron sent a wrist shot from the right circle past Beech.
The Bucks and Brahmas each had 11 shots in the period, with Beech stopping 10 of 11 Brahmas attempts, while Cacciola stopped all 11 Bucks shots. Beech made three straight saves, on three possesions where the Brahmas had a clean shot off of a break from the right circle.
The Bucks were 0-3 the the man advantage in the second period, while the Brahmas came up empty on their only power-play in the period.
Texas (12-5) took a 2-1 lead at the 5:41 mark of the third when Cameron scored his second goal of the game. Carnegie then tied it with just 1:48 left for the Bucks.
Beech (6-0-1) took the loss making 25 saves, while Cacciola picked up the win stopping 31 of 33 Bucks shots.
The Bucks play at division rival Corpus Christi Saturday night at 8:05pm.
