Williamsport Crosscutters News Release
The Williamsport Crosscutters tied a season high for runs scored against the Mahoning Valley Scrappers on Monday night picking up a 10-4 win at Eastwood Field. Williamsport also tallied 17 hits which is their second highest total this season. The Cutters remain in first place in the Pinckney Division and improve to 9-8 on the road this season.
The Crosscutters opened up the game with a pair of runs in the top of the first inning to set the tempo. Jan Hernandez would make it 2-0 with a single scoring Mark Laird and Josh Tobias. Laird and Tobias both reached on singles of their own. The quick start offensively would parlay into a quick 1-2-3 inning for Alejandro Arteaga.
Williamsport added to their lead in the second inning as Tobias picked up his second hit of the game with a RBI double that would score Zach Coppola from second base. The Scrappers answered with their first run against Arteaga in the bottom of the inning to cut the Cutters lead to 3-1. The fourth inning would be rough for both starting pitchers as six combined runs would score.
Dylan Bosheers would lead off the top of the sixth inning with the first of his three hits on the night. The Cutters would load the bases after a fielding error and walk to Coppola and Laird. Three runs would eventually score to give Williamsport a 6-1 lead. Mahoning Valley answered with three runs in the bottom half of the inning against Arteaga to cut the lead to 6-4. The Cutters would put the game out of reach for good in the top of the ninth inning by scoring three more runs to take a 10-4 lead. Bosheers highlighted the inning by picking up his first professional RBI, scoring Carlos Duran. The Cutters sit in first place in the Pinckney Division with a five game lead over second place West Virginia after they beat Auburn 6-3 at home.
