OFFENSE EXPLODES IN CHECKERS' 6-4 ROMP OVER TORONTO

Zykov picks up two goals and two assists, 5 different Checkers record multi-point game

TORONTO, ON -After last night's shutout loss, the Checkers' offense exploded in the rematch against Toronto, rolling to a 6-4 victory.

For the first time this season Charlotte was able to get on the board first, pumping in a pair of goals in the opening frame. The Marlies erased that advantage over the next period and a half, however, notching three unanswered tallies and forcing the Checkers to once again play from behind.

But almost immediately following Toronto's third goal, Jake Chelios connected on a point blast to even the score and the Charlotte offense came to life. The Checkers connected on consecutive power plays, of which they had seven on the night, then squashed the Marlies rally attempt with a long-distance empty netter to clinch their revenge on the home squad.

Alex Nedeljkovic made 28 stops, including denying all 13 shots he faced in the opening frame, to improve to 4-0-0 this season.
