Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders scored in eight of their nine turns at bat and hit four home runs to out-slug the Syracuse Mets 15-10 on Sunday at NBT Bank Stadium. The RailRiders won five straight games to close out their season-opening series at the Mets.

Luke Voit went 2-for-5 with a double, a home run and three RBIs in his fifth game on a rehab assignment while playing the whole game as the designated hitter before being lifted for a pinch runner in the ninth. His homer was his third of the season.

With SWB already leading 3-0 in the top of the third, Trey Amburgey launched a monster two-run home run over the batter's eye in centerfield to extend the lead to 5-0. Syracuse clawed back with four runs in the bottom of the third against Mike Montgomery, but Voit's solo homer in the fourth put the RailRiders back up by two.

After the Mets picked up another run in the fourth to cut the lead back to 6-5, Derek Dietrich led off the top of the fifth with a solo home run. The round tripper was Dietrich's second in as many days.

Syracuse rallied for four runs in the bottom of the fifth against Brooks Kriske to briefly take a 9-7 lead, but the RailRiders rallied for three runs in the top of the sixth. Socrates Brito's two-run single put the Baby Bombers on top for good, 10-9.

Chris Gittens added a two-run homer in the top of the seventh to put SWB on top 12-9. It was the fourth home run of the game for the club, and the fifth straight game that the RailRiders have hit multiple homers.

The RailRiders tacked on three more insurance runs in the top of the ninth, including two on a bases-loaded double for Amburgey against position player pitching Bruce Maxwell. Amburgey finished the day 3-for-6 with a home run, a double and five RBIs.

Braden Bristo (2-0), Trevor Lane and Adam Warren combined for 4.1 innings of relief to close out the win. Warren allowed a run in the ninth, but earned the save. It was the first save of his minor league career, and his first overall since May 28, 2017 for the Yankees against the Oakland Athletics.

The RailRiders are off on Monday before hosting the 2021 home opener at PNC Field on Tuesday, May 11.
