Pigs Win Rain Shortened Finale

(Allentown, Pa) - The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (5-1) defeated the Rochester Red Wings (1-5) 7-1 on Sunday afternoon in a game that went just five and a half innings due to rain. Adonis Medina (1-0) earned his first triple-A win by striking out six batters over five innings.

Jake Noll gave Rochester a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning with two outs as he hit a solo home run off Medina. The IronPigs answered with two runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 2-1 lead against Wander Suero (0-1). Mickey Moniak hit an RBI triple to score Ronald Torreyes and Austin Listi hit a sacrifice fly to score Moniak.

The Pigs scored five runs against Steven Fuentes in the top of the second inning to extend their lead to 7-1. Fuentes issued three straight walks with one out to Rafael Marchan, Sal Gozzo and Medina. Travis Jankowski hit a two-run single that was followed by a two-run double from Torreyes. Moniak added the fifth run of the inning by hitting a sacrifice fly.

Sean Nolin pitched a scoreless bottom of the fifth inning for Rochester. The inning was followed by a scoreless top of the sixth inning for Mauricio Llovera.

The IronPigs will head on the road starting on Tuesday as they begin a six-game series with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
