Trenton Thunder News Release

(Trenton, NJ) - Vidal Nuño pitched seven two-hit innings and Luke Murton drilled his 13th home run as the Trenton Thunder defeated the Portland Sea Dogs, 7-1 to win the four-game series in front of 4,261 fans at Waterfront Park. Trenton (43-31) finished a seven-game homestand with a 4-3 record behind Nuño, who struck out six and walked only one batter.

Murton's two-run blast against Drake Britton (1-2) highlighted a four-run sixth inning for the Thunder to break open a close contest to that point. He has homered five times in his last nine games played and is now only three long balls behind teammate Cody Johnson for the EL lead.

Addison Maruszak's RBI double opened the scoring in the fifth. He reached base all four times he batted, going 2-for-2 with a walk and a hit-by-pitch. Ricky Orta allowed a solo home run to Bryce Brentz with two outs in the ninth inning to break up the shutout bid. Orta fanned three Sea Dogs in two innings of relief.

The Thunder next head on the road for a nine-game trip, beginning with a four-game series against New Britain. Game one Tuesday night will have a 6:35 pm first pitch with righty Adam Miller (0-2, 4.37) slated to pitch for the Thunder against lefty Aaron Thompson (1-2, 5.57). Radio coverage on 91.3 FM (WTSR) and also streaming online begins at 6:20 pm.
