New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release

MANCHESTER, NH - Brian Bocock homered and drove in four runs on Monday night, but the Fisher Cats (28-46) comeback from an early 8-0 deficit fell just short to Harrisburg, 9-8, at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. Despite the loss to the Senators (38-37), the Fisher Cats took a split of the four-game series and completed their seven-game homestand with a 4-3 record.

The big lead for the Senators happened all at once, as they scored eight runs on seven hits in the top of the second inning against Fernando Hernandez (L; 1-5). Hernandez left the game with two outs in the frame, turning the ball over the bullpen with a big deficit.

The comeback started in the bottom of the second with a pair of runs against starter Kevin Pucetas (6-2). Kenen Bailli doubled home Mark Sobolewski before Bocock's groundout plated Bailli for the second run of the inning.

In the fourth, a three-run frame made it an 8-5 deficit. With one out, Sobolewski and Bailli each singled. Brian Van Kirk drove home one run with a hit to left; Bocock picked up his second RBI on a single to right. A force out by Justin Jackson scored Van Kirk for the final run of the frame.

After the Senators hit their third home run of the game in the fifth, New Hampshire rallied back again in the sixth. Van Kirk drew a one-out walk before Bocock blasted his first Fisher Cats home run into the Dinner in the Den, cutting the lead to 9-7. A hit batter followed by a stolen base and an error led to the final run for the Fisher Cats.

New Hampshire had one more scoring chance with runners at first and third and no outs in the seventh. But, Sobolewski was thrown out at the plate before a pair of force outs ended the frame without further incident.

Sobo and Bailli each went 3-5 and scored a pair of runs in the game. Van Kirk was on base twice and scored two runs as well.

The bullpen did another outstanding job in relief of Hernandez. Trystan Magnuson, Matt Daly, Steve Marek, and Ronald Uviedo combined for 7.1 innings, allowing just one run on three hits with six strikeouts.

The Fisher Cats now hit the road for an eight-game road trip through Portland and Reading. Game one with the Sea Dogs begins at 7 PM on Tuesday night at Hadlock Field. RHP John Stilson (1-1, 6.43) takes the ball in game one against Portland RHP Chris Martin (3-4, 4.41). Radio coverage begins at 6:45 PM with Tom Gauthier on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network and www.nhfishercats.com.

The Fisher Cats return home to begin a fireworks-filled six-game homestand starting on the 4th of July against the Future Red Sox, the Portland Sea Dogs. Beginning with the Fourth, the Fisher Cats will host five consecutive nights of Atlas Fireworks during the stand.
