North Carolina FC Signs Former Academy Goalkeeper Ryan Cretens

CARY, NC - North Carolina FC announced today the signing of former NCFC Youth Academy goalkeeper Ryan Cretens. The UNC-Wilmington product joins the club to replace Alex Tambakis who is temporarily sidelined.

The Zebulon, NC, native played collegiately at UNC Wilmington where, as a senior, he earned Second-Team All-Colonial Athletic Association honors and ranked second in the CAA with a 0.74 goals against average while making 60 saves. He finished his career at UNCW appearing in 57 games and posting a 0.716 save percentage.

Cretens also played for the Carolina Dynamo in the PDL (now USL League Two) from 2015-17 and for Tobacco Road FC in 2018. In 2016 he earned PDL Goalkeeper of the Year honors recording five clean sheets and posting a 0.33 goals against average.

Cretens will be available for selection today as NCFC takes on Louisville City FC in Louisville, KY at 3:00 p.m. ET.
