New Outfielder Joins Cougars

GENEVA, Ill. - The Kane County Cougars, in conjunction with the Chicago Cubs, have announced that outfielder Kevin Brown has joined the Cougars from Double-A Tennessee while outfielder Yasiel Balaguert has been placed on the disabled list with a foot injury. Today's roster move maintains the Midwest League maximum of 25 active players as the Cougars open a series this evening in Davenport, Iowa against the Quad Cities River Bandits. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.

Brown (22nd round, 2013) joins the Cougars via Double-A Tennessee. Brown played in 6 games, all in left field, for the Smokies and batted .333. Prior to that, Brown played in 15 games with Short-A Boise, batting .293. Brown played collegiately at Bryant University and was a member of the 2013 NEC Championship team.

Balaguert (Non-drafted free agent, 2011), a member of the Cougars' Opening Day roster, was batting .243 with 6 home runs and a team-high 46 RBI. His 78 games played was only behind Carlos Penalver and Jacob Rogers, who have played in 80 of the team's 86 games.
