Bees' Rally Falls Short in Beloit

(Beloit- WI)- Snappers' outfielder Ryan Mathews drove in five runs in a Beloit Snappers 5-3 over the Burlington Bees on Tuesday night, in game one of a three game series at Pohlman Field.

Beloit jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning thanks to a Ryan Mathews single, scoring Tyler Marincov.

Mike Fish crushed a solo home run to left, in the top of the sixth inning, tying the game at one.

With the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth inning, Ryan Mathews blasted a homer to right, a grand slam, putting the Snappers on top 5-1.

The Bees crawled to within a pair of runs in the eighth inning thanks to RBI singles from Trevor Gretzky and Ryan Dalton, cutting the deficit to 5-3.

The Bees brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth but could not complete the comeback attempt, dropping game one of the series.

Snappers' reliever Brendan McCurry (1-0) picked up the win, while Bees' starter Garrett Nuss (4-1) was charged with the loss. Bobby Wahl (2) earned the save for Beloit.

The Burlington Bees (47-40) and the Beloit Snappers (35-52) continues a three game series on Wednesday at 7:00 PM. Victor Alcantara makes the start for the Bees against Lou Trivino for Beloit.
