New look for Wizards roster

Fort Wayne, IN - The Fort Wayne Wizards roster was revamped today with the addition of right-hander Mark Roberts and infielder Jesus Lopez, while right-hander Ernesto Frieri and infielder Ray Chang were reassigned to the San Diego Padres extended spring training camp in Peoria, Arizona.

Roberts was originally drafted by the Texas Rangers organization in the eighth round of the 2004 June Amateur Draft. He split time last year between the Clinton Lumberkings of the Midwest League and the Double-A Frisco Roughriders of the Texas League. He was 4-2 with a 2.87 earned run average and three saves in 20 relief appearances. He struck out 30, walked 15 and allowed 23 hits in 37 2/3 innings.

Lopez, signed by the Padres in July of 2004, spent the 2005 season with the Padres Dominican Summer League team, hitting .236 with three home runs and 24 runs batted in over 71 games.

Chang hit .246 with one home run and five runs batted in during 19 games.

Frieri appeared in one game for the Wizards and pitched one inning.
