Northwest Arkansas Naturals News Release
NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The Northwest Arkansas Naturals (28-36) fell in the series finale on Tuesday night at Dickey-Stephens Park to the Arkansas Travelers (28-36) by a 6-1 final score. The Naturals concluded the nine-game road trip with a 1-8 record.
The Naturals plated their lone run in the top of the first inning. Lead-off man, Corey Toups, opened the game with a walk from the Travelers, Tyler Carpenter (2-3, 4.26), moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Logan Moon and into third on a bloop single to left field by Ryan O'Hearn.
Two batters following the O'Hearn single, Bubba Starling stroked a hit to left and plated Toups to give the Naturals a 1-0 lead.
The Travelers responded with three runs in the third and three more in the fifth, all coming off right-hander, Jake Junis (6-4, 3.07). The Rock Falls, Ill. native went 4.2 innings, allowed six runs on 10 hits with five strikeouts, suffering his first loss since May 19.
Right-hander, Yender Caramo worked 2.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen while left-hander, Tim Hill fired a scoreless eighth inning on the night.
With his lead-off walk in the opening inning, Toups extended his season-best on-base streak to 17 consecutive games. The stretch is currently the second-longest active streak in the Texas League, trailing San Antonio's Nick Torres.
Cam Gallagher and Terrance Gore led the offense, each tabbing two hits on the night.
Northwest Arkansas will head back to Arvest Ballpark on Wednesday night and open up an eight-game homestand beginning with a four-game series against the North Division leaders, the Springfield Cardinals.
