Midland RockHounds News Release
Frisco and the RockHounds exchanged impact swings of the bat in the ninth inning on Tuesday afternoon at Dr Pepper Ballpark - - Franklin Barreto's home run for the 'Hounds was big, but Preston Beck's two-run shot was a game-ender.
With the game tied, 3-3, in the ninth, Barreto took a John Fasola pitch out to left field. RockHounds reliever Kyle Finnegan then walked Luis Mendez with one out in the last of the ninth and, moments later, Beck sent a 3-1 pitch out to right for the 5-4 win.
Beck's two-run, walk-off homer gave the RoughRiders a split of the four-game series (see "Stat of the Day," below).
The clubs went back-and-forth over the first five innings, with Frisco's Ryan Cordell hitting a pair of solo home runs (both off starter Joel Seddon) and Tyler Marincov (see below) driving in a pair of runs for the RockHounds.
Frisco's starter was Texas Rangers right-hander (and former RockHound) A.J. Griffin, who is with the Riders on a rehab assignment. Griffin pitched into the fourth, allowing two runs on five hits, walking two batters and striking out three.

Kibbles & Bits
STAT of the DAY While Frisco gained a split of the series in dramatic fashion with the walk-off home run, the series split hurt the RoughRiders in the first half pennant race, dropping them four games behind Corpus Christi. If the Hooks win Tuesday night (at home versus San Antonio), their lead would be 4.5 games with seven left to play. The RoughRiders host the Hooks in a four-day, five-game series in the Metroplex, beginning Wednesday, and would have to win four of five to stay in the race.
- In the last two games of the series, Tyler Marincov was 4-for-7 with a home run, two doubles and six runs batted in (1-for-3, two RBI Tuesday). In his last 11 games, Marincov is 14-for-44 (.318) with 13 RBI.
- Josh Rodriguez (1-for-3, RBI, walk) has now hit in five straight games, going 8-for-21 (.381) with a home run and five RBI.
