Midland RockHounds News Release
Matt Chapman (left) hit his league-leading 15th home run in a 4-2 loss in the first game of Monday's doubleheader against Frisco. Tyler Marincov (right) went 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles and four RBI in an 8-2 win in the second game of the twinbill at Dr Pepper Ballpark. (Forrest Allen)
Tyler Marincov's three-run home run broke open a scoreless game in the nightcap of Monday's doubleheader in Frisco and the RockHounds went on to defeat the RoughRiders, 8-2, to gain a split of the double-dip at Dr Pepper Ballpark (the clubs were rained out Sunday night).
Frisco rallied from a 2-0 deficit in the opener, tying the game in the fourth on Joe Jackson's double and scoring the winning runs on a two-out, two-run single from Luis Mendez in the sixth (doubleheader games are seven innings).
The first five innings of the second game were dominated by starters Victor Payano (Frisco) and Daniel Gossett. Payano tossed five shutout innings, giving up three hits and one walk while striking out a half-dozen. Gossett, in his third start with the RockHounds, was outstanding, allowing one hit and one walk, with five K's, over four scoreless innings.
In the sixth, Wade Kirkland doubled against reliever Juan Grullon and Matt Chapman drew a walk, setting the table for Marincov, who took the first pitch he saw from Grullon out to left field for a three-run homer. The 'Hounds, aided by the sixth Frisco error of the series, scored five times in the seventh, with Marincov (double) driving in his fifth run of the doubleheader and Josh Rodriguez belting a three-run home run.
Ben Bracewell went the last three frames and did not allow a run until, with the 'Hounds up, 8-0, and two out in the seventh, Evan Van Hoosier singled and Andy Ibanez lifted a two-run home run to left (of the 16 runs scored in the doubleheader, nine came on four home runs).

- Viosergy Rosa (3-for-6, walk in the doubleheader) has hit in five straight games (8-for-17) and in 12 of 14 games (17-for-51, .333).
