Nailers Voice Earns Trip to All-Star Game

WHEELING, WV - Wheeling Nailers, the "AA" affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Philadelphia Flyers, announced today that radio play-by-play broadcaster Brendan Burke has been named to the radio broadcast team for the 2008 Chase Chevrolet All-Star Game presented by Jackson Rancheria and Bud Light at Stockton Arena. He will be joined by Mike Benton of the host Stockton Thunder and Leif Skodnick of the Mississippi Sea Wolves.

In his second season as the "Voice of the Nailers," Burke also is the director of broadcasting and communications for Wheeling. He joined the organization in October 2006 and spends his offseason working as the play-by-play voice for the Lakewood BlueClaws, the Philadelphia Phillies affiliate in the South Atlantic League. He was awarded his bachelor's degree in journalism with a minor in sports studies from Ithaca College where as an undergraduate he not only broadcast all Ithaca sports, but also women's hockey for Cornell University.

Hosted by the Stockton Thunder and the City of Stockton at Stockton Arena, the 2008 Chase Chevrolet ECHL All-Star Game presented by Jackson Rancheria and Bud Light will be played on Jan. 23 with the 11th edition of the Chase Chevrolet ECHL All-Star Game Skills Competition being held on Jan. 22.

The audio broadcast is produced by NHL Radio and will feature a play-by-play announcer, a color commentator and a reporter who will be ice level interviewing players and coaches as well as representatives from the National Hockey League.

The audio broadcast will be carried live for the third year in a row by XM Satellite Radio, the nation's leading satellite radio service, on NHL Hockey Play-by-Play (XM Channel 206) at 10 p.m. ET on Jan. 23 in the United States on XM Radio and in Canada through XM's partner, Canadian Satellite Radio. In addition to its broadcast of the All-Star Game, XM Radio regularly features the Premier 'AA' Hockey League on "Hockey This Morning" with Scott Laughlin heard each weekday morning on HOME ICE XM 204.

Radio stations and online audio options are being finalized and will be announced as soon as they are available.
