Trenton Devils News Release

TRENTON, NJ (December 27, 2007) - The Trenton Devils saw outstanding performances up and down their line-up as they blew past the Chiefs in front of 3,096 fans at Sovereign Bank Arena, winning 5-0. Brad Mills recorded his first career hat trick, Colin Pepperall tallied the Devil's first four-point game of the season, and Dave Caruso built a shutout en route to the win.

Mills, seeing only his second game of action following time on the injured reserve, gave the Devils a 1-0 lead with less than three seconds to go in the first period. Coming out of the penalty box after serving a holding minor, the rookie center intercepted a pass and tore away, wristing his first goal of the season into the top left corner of Mike Brown's net.

The Devils would vary their scoring in the second period, as Stephen Wood and Jim Henkel joined Mills on the scoresheet. Both were set up by Colin Pepperall, who served up one-timers from behind the net to both scorers. Wood would see his seventh of the season go in from the bottom dot 6:45 in, while Henkel's give-and-go shot from the top dot found the net 11:54 into the middle frame.

Mills would tally his second of the season with 2:53 remaining in the second, chipping in a feed from Eric Castonguay while charging towards the net. The forward from Olds, Alberta finished his hat trick with a transition play set up by Castonguay and Pepperall. Taking a pass from the veteran, Mills kicked the puck towards his stick before wristing it into the netting.

Dave Caruso recorded 19 saves on 19 shots, sprawling out several times to stop multiple put-backs. The netminder earned his first shutout as a Devil, and second of his career.

Castonguay gained a three-point night on three assists. Pepperall's four point performance was the first for the Devils since Nick Deschenes scored four against the center's old Greenville Grrrowl squad.

The Trenton Devils will see no rest this week, hosting North Division leader Elmira tomorrow night at Sovereign Bank Arena Friday, December 27th at 7:30pm. Tune into WTSR 91.3 or go online to www.trentondevils.com and listen or watch live courtesy of B2 Networks.
