Charlotte, N.C. - The Charlotte Checkers scored two third period goals to ensure a 4-1 victory over the Augusta Lynx.

In the first period, the Checkers got on the board when a Dusty Jamieson shot beat Lynx goalie, JP Levasseur at 7:00 of the first period.

In the middle frame, Mike Bayrack received a great pass from Jordan Owens and blasted the puck short-side on Levasseur and scored for Charlotte putting the Checkers up 2-0.

During the final period, the Lynx would get on the scoreboard after a scrum in the crease ended with Adrian Veideman tallying a goal at 6:47 cutting the Checkers lead to 2-1. Charlotte would answer back after Chris Capraro found a loose puck in the crease and knocked it home at 15:26 recapturing the Checkers two goal lead. Bruce Graham would add an empty netter as the Checkers skated away with a 4-1 victory.

Notes: Mike Ayers turned aside 31 of 32 shots while Levasseur stopped 26 of 29...Neither team could net a power play goal. The Checkers had six attempts and the Lynx had three.

The Checkers are in their 15th season of play as a member of the ECHL. Their next home game takes place on Dec. 29 against the South Carolina Stingrays. In the team's 14-year history, the Checkers have made the playoffs 10 times including three consecutive playoff appearances to date.
