Gladiators Beat Inferno 3-1

DULUTH, GA (December 27, 2007) - The Columbia Inferno dropped to the Gwinnett Gladiators 3-1 Thursday night at the Arena at Gwinnett Center in front of 6,186 fans.

Jeremy Hall scored the lone and quick goal at the 43 second mark of the first period as he netted his third goal of the season Inferno all-star Tyler Doig and Patrick Wellar had the assists. Gwinnett tied the game at 1:51 with a goal by Stuart MacRae. The Gladiators owned the second period as they scored a pair of goals and outshot the Inferno 12-6.

Inferno goaltender Jeff Jakaitis faced 38 shots on goal, stopping 35. The Inferno had 22 shots on goal and was 0-for-2 on the power play. In 60 minutes of play, the Inferno had only three penalties and Gwinnett had two.

Columbia returns home to face the Charlotte Checkers on Friday, December 28th at 1:05 p.m. The Carolina Coliseum Box Office will be open starting at 11 a.m.

The American Red Cross will also be at the game, conducting a blood drive on the Coliseum concourse. Fans are encouraged to pre-register to give blood by visiting givelife.org Blood donors will receive a long sleeve T-shirt compliments of the American Red Cross and a voucher for an upcoming Inferno home game.

The Inferno will also be promoting Bad Gift Day for the Dec. 28th game. Fans are encouraged to bring their unwanted gifts to the game so they can be collected and donated to local-area shelters.

In addition to this Friday's game starting at 1:05 p.m., the club's next three home games will be matinees as well. Wednesday, Jan. 2 vs. Gwinnett; Saturday, Jan. 5 vs. Augusta; and Saturday, Jan. 12 vs. Florida will all start at 1:05 p.m.
