Johnstown Chiefs News Release

Trenton, NJ - The Johnstown Chiefs' losing streak hit eight with a 5-0 loss Thursday in Trenton.

The Devils took advantage of a Johnstown miscue late in the first to earn a 1-0 lead heading into the first intermission.

With his holding minor having just expired, Brad Mills stole a Mike Brown pass and raced in on a breakaway. Mills used a fake to the forehand to get Brown down, and scored with a wrist shot over the glove hand with only 2.6 seconds left in the frame.

The Devils were able to turn the late first period goal into second period momentum, as they would put three pucks past Brown. Stephen Wood and Jim Henkel each scored their first of the game, while Mills' second of the game established the 4-0 lead. Colin Pepperall, playing in his first game against Johnstown, assisted on all three of the Devils second period goals.

Brad Mills would finish off his hat trick in the third period when he beat Ryan Nie, who replaced Brown at the start of the third. The goal came at 10:51, and Colin Pepperall would add his fourth assist.

For the game, Brown finished with 20 saves in 24 opportunities, while Nie went 15-of-16. The Chiefs power play was unable to score for the first time in seven games as they went 0-for-3.

The Chiefs' next home game is on Monday December, 31 against the Elmira Jackals. That game marks the traditional New Year's Eve game with the special 6 PM face off. If you miss that one, you can catch the Chiefs on January 18 against the Dayton Bombers at the guaranteed win night. Every fan in attendance will go home with a prize!
