Nailers Make Three Transactions

WHEELING, WV- The Wheeling Nailers, proud ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Montreal Canadiens, have announced three transactions, which all take effect immediately. Wheeling has signed forwards Colin Mulvey and Tyler Fernandez, while acquiring defenseman Myles Harvey from the Orlando Solar Bears, in exchange for future considerations.

Mulvey, 23, began the 2013-14 season with the Nailers, making his ECHL debut with the team on October 19th in Cincinnati. He then took the ice again with Wheeling on November 10th in Reading, netting his first career goal. Prior to turning pro, Colin attended Norwich University for four years, where he appeared in 107 games, totaling 43 goals, 35 assists, and 78 points. During his senior season, the Worcester, MA native was named ECAC-East Hockey Player of the Year, prior to suiting up in nine playoff games for the CHL's Fort Worth Brahmas.

Fernandez, 25, is currently playing in his fourth professional season, after starting the year with five goals, six assists, and 11 points in 12 games with the SPHL's Peoria Rivermen. Tyler attended Brown University for three years, from 2007-10, before joining the FHL's 1000 Islands Privateeers for the first of two campaigns. 2011-12 was the Bloomfield CT native's most productive season, as he racked up 21 goals, 29 assists, and 50 points in 42 games with the SPHL's Knoxville Ice Bears, before adding on four points in 16 games with the Greenville Road Warriors and Cincinnati Cyclones.

Harvey, 25, made his professional debut with the Solar Bears on November 2nd, dropping the gloves against Florida's Tyson Gimblett, accounting for his five penalty minutes. Prior to making the jump to the pros, Myles attended Providence College for four years, registering eight goals, 24 assists, and 32 points in 124 games. The Orlando, FL native will raise Wheeling's size, as he checks in at 6-foot-5, 225 lbs.

Mulvey and Fernandez are slated to be in the lineup on Wednesday in Cincinnati, while Harvey could make his Wheeling debut on Friday in Elmira. The Nailers' next home game takes place on Saturday against Toledo.
