Kalamazoo Wings News Release
Kalamazoo, MI- The Florida Everblades proved once again why they are one of the top road teams in the ECHL. The Everblades used two scores in the second period to defeat the Kalamazoo Wings 5-2 Wednesday night to earn their league-best ninth road victory.
Intercepting a breakout pass in the K-Wings zone, AJ Jenks (7th) put the Everblades on the scoreboard early in the first period.
Creating a turnover of their own Kalamazoo's Eric Kattelus came out with the puck in the left corner and laid a centering pass to Ben Wilson, who was cutting towards the net for his first goal of the season with 2:22 remaining in the opening period.
Florida's high-octane offense was on display in the second period. Trevor Bruess (1st) netted his first goal of the season 1:53 into middle stanza to give the 'Blades a 2-1 advantage.
Earning the eventual game-winning goal, six minutes later, John Henrion rung up his third goal of the season to push the Everblades lead to two goals.
Continuing to put pressure on Kalamazoo at the blue line, Florida put the game out reach in the third period with goals from Olivier Dame-Malka (1st) and Mathieu Roy (8th).
Kalamazoo's Ludwig Blomstrand (5th) continued his goal streak late in the contest netting his third goal in as many games to close out the scoring.
The K-Wings will continue their three-game home stand with the second-leg this Friday, November 29th for a 7:30 p.m. face-off versus the Fort Wayne Komets on Country Western Night, featuring a performance by country singer Dani Jamerson, presented by Win 98.5 FM.
