Colorado Eagles Take Down the Alaska Aces 4-3

LOVELAND, Colo. -The Colorado Eagles (10-3-2) took down the Alaska Aces (11-4-0), 4-3, at the Budweiser Events Center on Wednesday night to put the Eagles in a tie for first place in the Mountain Division with the Aces. The two teams fought until the very end where Eagles goalie Marc Cheverie made several impressive saves down the stretch to hold onto the Eagles lead.

Colorado was able to beat Aces goaltender Olivier Roy, to get the first goal of the game. Colorado forward Trent Daavettila snuck around the back of the net to get the rebound off a shot from defenseman Mark Nemec to put the Eagles up 1-0, 8:15 into the first frame. Almost six minutes later, Eagles defenseman Arthur Bidwill picked up his first goal of the season to give Colorado the 2-0 lead. The Aces first goal came late in the first period from forward Mathew Sisca to cut the Eagles lead, 2-1, after one period of play.

Just 4:48 into the second stanza Eagles forward Kyle Ostrow scored his fourth goal in four games as he wrapped around the Aces net to give the Eagles the 3-1 advantage. Aces forward Brendan Connolly would slice the Eagles lead in half after taking advantage of a breakaway to put the puck past Cheverie, making it 3-2 Colorado after two periods.

Eagles forward Luke Fulghum joined Ostrow in scoring four goals in as many games, just 6:23 into the third period, to up the Eagles lead, 4-2. Less than four minutes later the Aces found themselves on a power play and Sisca found the back of the net for his second goal of the night. However Alaska would draw no closer as the Eagles would win by a final count of 4-3.

The Colorado Eagles are set to take on the Alaska Aces again on Friday, November 29 at the Budweiser Events Center starting at 7:05 pm.
