WHEELING, WV - The Nailers, playing a much more inspired brand of hockey than the previous night, downed the visiting Toledo Storm 3-1 tonight at WesBanco Arena before a crowd of over 3,700 people.

The Storm got the game's first goal at 4:56 when they created a 2-on-1 down low. Matt Zultek zipped a pass through Andy Franck's crease that wound up on the stick of P.J. Martin who didn't have to work very hard to put the puck in the gaping net.

After the initial goal, much of the remainder of the period was played in the neutral zone, and the score stayed 1-0 in favor of Toledo.

It only took 12 seconds for the Nailers to tie the game in the second period on a two man advantage that had carried over from the first.

Ryan Moren took a pass from Jordan Cameron and blasted a shot through Toledo goalie Mike Brodeur. Adam Edinger earned the second assist for his first point as a Nailer. Edinger was recently acquired in a trade with Long Beach.

The Nailers took a 2-1 lead at 7:29 of the second.

Joe Guenter, with his back to the net, gathered a loose puck, whirled around and put a shot on net that beat Brodeur, who was completely surprised by the shot. Ryan Moren and Tim Wallace had assists on the goal.

Joe Guenther added his second goal of the game and 17th of the year with just under five minutes to go in the middle frame.

Guenther wristed a shot on goal, which Brodeur initially saved, but the puck bounced off the goalie's leg pad, went up in the air and fell into the net past Brodeur's outstretched glove. Ryan Moren and Tim Wallace again had the assists.

That was all the Nailers needed to secure their victory.

They look to make it two in a row when they travel to Johnstown to take on the Chiefs on Monday at 1 p.m.
