Fresno, Calif. - For the second straight night, the Utah Grizzlies scored three third period goals on their way to a 3-1 win over the Fresno Falcons in front of 5,726 fans on Saturday at Save Mart Center.
Dustin VanBallegooie broke a scoreless tie with his seventh goal of the season 12:06 into the second period. Dave Borrelli's rebound caromed to VanBallegooie on the right-wing side, and he beat goaltender Rob McVicar with a shot from the half wall.
Utah pulled even with a power-play goal 10 minutes into the third period. Ryan Kinasewich's initial shot hit off of the post, but the rebound hit off of the back of Scott Stirling and rolled into the net.
The Grizzlies went ahead at 16:43. Luciano Aquino sent the puck through the slot to Danny Stewart at the top of the circles, and he was able to beat Stirling for his seventh goal of the season.
Travis Rycroft scored an empty-net goal with 5.5 seconds left to set the final.
