Bakersfield Condors News Release

STOCKTON, Calif. - It was a see-saw battle all game long, but Steve Rodberg's goal in the sixth round of the shootout gave the Condors a 5-4 victory Friday night, before 6,810 at the Stockton Arena. Bakersfield has now won four straight games, tying a season high.

The Thunder (17-7-6) led the shootout 1-0 until Sean Venedam finally beat Devan Dubnyk in the fifth round. Jamie Hodson made a huge stop on Tyler Spurgeon in the sixth round and Rodberg sealed the "W" for Bakersfield (20- 10-10), which is now 10 games over .500 for the first time this season. The Condors are only one point behind the second-place Fresno Falcons, who fell to Utah Friday.

It was a 2-2 game heading into the third period before Josh Liebenow gave the Condors a 3-2 lead with a power-play goal at the 5:55 mark. Stockton's Brendon Hodge tied it 30 seconds later and notched another at 10:34, making it 4-3 Thunder. Rane Carnegie, however, had the equalizer with 3:12 left in regulation.

Teams traded goals in both the first and second periods. Mike Lalonde got things started 12:50 into the opening frame, but Venedam came right back at the 17:27 mark.

Alex Kim, playing in just his second game with Bakersfield, cashed in a five-on-three power-play goal 2:33 into the second, giving the Condors a 2-1 edge. It also extended Bakersfield's power-play goal streak to 22 games.

Stockton came back to tie it at two-apiece at 8:03 of the second, also capitalizing on a two-man advantage.

Hodson finished with a game-high 39 saves, upping his record to 15-4-2. Dubnyk, who stopped 35 shots, is now 10-2-5. Both teams were 2-for-8 on the power play.

Notes: Kevin St. Jacques was kept off the scoreboard after posting 10 points in his previous two games. He still has 35 points (9g, 26a) in his last 19 games overall. Hodson is one win away from 100 in his pro career. Kim is one assist away from 100 in his pro career. The Condors have outscored their opponents 21-12 during their four- game winning streak. They have scored 38 power- play goals during their consecutive game streak.
