Augusta Lynx News Release

Augusta, GA - The Pensacola Ice Pilots return to the James Brown Arena and will try to snap the Augusta Lynx' seven game home winning streak tonight at 7:35 pm.

Coming off a pair of big wins over the Texas Wildcatters this week, the Lynx look to continue the momentum built over the past several weeks. Augusta scored a team-high seven goals in a game twice in a row during the last seven days, beating Johnstown 7-2 Sunday and Texas 7-4 Tuesday.

Lynx captain Ryan Lang has ten points in his last five games, eight of those coming on assists. Louis Goulet and Mike Erickson each have four goals in the last five games as well to chip in on the scoreboard.

On the defensive side of the puck, Dave McKee has won his last four starts for the Lynx, allowing and average of just 2.20 goals per game. McKee also stopped all five shooters Friday night to earn his ECHL-leading fourth shootout win of the year.

"When we're playing physical, we can take control of a game," said Lynx head coach and director of hockey operations Bob Ferguson. "A big part of being able to win is becoming more consistent in doing that on a regular basis."

The Ice Pilots are struggling to find its tenth win of the year, posting only one victory since the calendar turned to 2007. In the last four games, Pensacola has given up six goals on three of those occasions, holding Charlotte to just three in a 3-2 loss in North Carolina last night.

Mike Wirll is leading the way for Pensacola with seven goals and nine points in the last five games, with teammate David Wrigley posting six assists and eight points over that span. In net, the return of Michael Mole has helped along with the addition of Evan Lindsay, but Mole has been saddled with the loss in his last two appearances. What has really hurt the Ice Pilots over the last five games is a penalty kill that has turned aside only 61.3% of chances against, giving up 12 man advantage markers in 31 chances.

The Lynx will try for an eighth straight home win when hit the ice tonight at 7:35 pm at the James Brown Arena. Tickets are $11, $15, and $18, with discounts available for students, seniors, and military personnel with valid ID. You may purchase seats for all Lynx home games via the team office at (706) 724-4ICE, on line at www.TicketMaster.com, and at all TicketMaster locations.
