
Wildcatters Battle Hard but lose 3-2 to Gladiators

Duluth, GA - Chad Painchaud scored the game winning goal with 12 minutes left in the third period to help Gwinnett defeat the Wildcatters (20-10-2-3) in front of 7,503 at The Arena at Gwinnett Center. Texas trailed early on two Gladiators goals as league leading scorer Brad Schell came in with rookie Colton Fretter on a two on one to put the puck past goaltender Matt Yeats to make it 1-0 at 3:29 into the first period. Defenseman Jamie Milam would give Gwinnett a 2-0 lead. The âCatters clawed their way back as Daniel Sparre scored a power play goal with five minutes left in the second to cut the lead to 2-1.
Texas would tie the game up when Mike Madill fired a shot from the top of the right circle just 3:35 into the third period. The two teams battled hard and Painchaud would get the game winner to give Gwinnett its 13th home victory this season. The Gladiators have the best home record in the league at 13-3-0-1. âCatters forward Riley Emmerson and Gladiators forward Blue Bennefield fought in the first period. Texas finished 1 for 3 on the power play and out shot Gwinnett 31-30 while Gwinnett went 1 for 9 on the man advantage. The âCatters have lost six in a row overall with two coming in a shootout. They look to get back on track when they take on Gwinnett at a special time of 11:30am CT on Monday.
