Trenton Devils News Release
TRENTON, NJ - The Trenton Titans lost the lead in the third period, but were able to come from behind to defeat the Dayton Bombers, 3-2, in front of 3,317 at the Sovereign Bank Arena on Saturday night.
After Corey Leclair's power play goal put the Bombers up 2-1 at 6:53 of the third period, the Titans were able to knot it up when Mike Pandolfo hit Les Haggett with a breakaway pass that was tucked home on the rebound with 7:29 left in regulation.
The Titans made sure this game wouldn't head to overtime as Jim Henkel notched the game-winner at 16:59 of the third period. Troy Riddle swept out of the corner and sent a pass to the top the crease where Jim Henkel tapped it in for his ninth of the year.
It took four power play chances in the first period, but the Titans were able to break the scoreless tie at 17:44 of the frame when Bryan Miller took a feed at hash marks from Les Haggett and beat Adam Berkhoel with a wrist shot to the blocker side.
Matt Herneisen got his team on the board on the man-advantage when he one-timed Paul Kelly's centering feed past Joel Martin at 7:46 of the second period.
Martin was solid again in net, making 44-of-46 saves for his tenth win of the year and his third victory in a row.
The Titans' winning-streak has now stretched to a season-high four games. Trenton was 1-for-9 on the power play and 4-for-6 on the penalty kill.
The Trenton Titans and Dayton Bombers duel again at 4pm on Sunday, January 14 for the last game before the ECHL All-Star break. Listen live by tuning into WBCB-1490AM or heading to www.trentontitans.com.
