Nailers add another Penguin draft pick

WHEELING, WV – The Wheeling Nailers announce that the Wiles-Barre/Scranton Penguins have assigned defenseman Darcy Robinson to the Nailers. As per club policy terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Robinson, 23, is in his fourth professional season after playing four seasons in the WHL for the Saskatoon Blades and Red Deer Rebels. He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2002 in the eight round of the draft.

The 6'3" 229 pound native from Kamloops, BC started his professional career with the Nailers in 2001-2002 appearing in 10 games recording 2 goals, 3 assists, and 43 penalty minutes. He was called up to Wilkes-Barre after those games and spent the rest of the season there. Robinson returned to the Nailers in 2002-2003 for just one game recording an assist, and returned to the AHL, appearing in 48 games scoring 1 goal and 7 assists, while racking up 89 penalty minutes.

In another roster move the Nailers have released forward Jake Riddle. As a rookie Riddle, 21, appeared in 11 games for the Nailers this season, and did not record a point.

The Nailers will play tonight against Dayton at 7PM, featuring Kraft Mac & Cheese night, fans who bring a box receive $2 off their ticket price. Friday they will face the Trenton Titans at 7:30PM on Teddy Bear Toss night, to kick off the Toys for Tots campaign with the Marines.
