Alaska Aces News Release

BOISE, Idaho – Frank Doyle stopped all 24 shots he faced as Idaho shut out Alaska 2-0 Wednesday night before 4,267 at the Bank of America Centre.

The two teams played a crisp first period, without either club enjoying a power play, but Alaska's one mistake in its own zone ended up in the net, as David Morriset intercepted an outlet pass and beat Aces starter Peter Aubry on the ensuing breakaway at the 11:40 mark. Alaska limited Idaho to just one shot in the second period, but still trailed 1-0 heading into the third. The Aces enjoyed a number of point-blank chances in the third but failed to solve Doyle, who preserved the Steelheads lead despite a 19-9 Alaska edge in shots on goal over the final 40 minutes. Finally, with the Aces having pulled Aubry in favor of the extra attacker in the closing seconds, Idaho salted the game away as Ben Keup snapped home an empty-netter with 36 seconds left.

The Steelheads move into first place in the West Division with a 10-4 record, while the Aces dropped to 8-7-1 with their second straight loss. Alaska and Idaho will take Thanksgiving off games before resuming their series Friday night at 5:05 p.m. ADT, a game that will be broadcast live on KHAR AM 590 and available on a pay-per-view basis at www.alaskaaces.com, courtesy of B2 Networks. Saturday's series finale at 5:05 p.m. ADT returns to flagship station KFQD 750 AM and again can be seen on pay-per-view.
