Vernarsky added to Everblades roster

Estero, FL - Florida Everblades head coach Gerry Fleming announced today that forward Kris Vernarsky has been assigned to the Everblades roster. Vernarsky will be in uniform for the Everblades tonight against the Greenville Grrrowl.

The 22-year-old native of Warren, Michigan began the season with Providence of the American Hockey League, skating in five games collecting one assist. In his third season professionally, Vernarsky has played a total of 142 games picking up 46 points (21g, 25a). His professional experience includes spending parts of the previous two seasons with the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League. In 17 total NHL games, the former second round draft pick by Toronto in 2000 notched one goal and two penalty minutes.

Prior to joining the pro ranks, Vernarsky spend four years in the Ontario Hockey League with the Plymouth Whalers from 1998-2002, where he picked up 145 points (52g, 93a) in 228 career games. The 6'2" centerman began his pro career in 2002-03 with Providence playing in 65 games (12g, 15a) before earning the first of his two call-ups to Boston where he saw action in 14 games (1g, 0a). Last year, Vernarsky again split time between Providence and Boston, skating in 55 games (8g, 9a) with Providence and three games with Boston (0g, 0a).
