Nailers Acquire Two Forwards from Utah

WHEELING, WV ‚¬" The Wheeling Nailers announced Tuesday that the team has acquired forwards Tim Crowder and Paul Crowder from the Utah Grizzlies in exchange for the rights to forward David Marshall. Marshall is currently on loan with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League.

Tim Crowder, 24, has spent the past two years with Utah, posting 33 points (13g, 20a) in 55 games this season, while registering 28 points (11g, 17a) in 45 games last season with the Grizzlies. The 6'2", 180-lb forward was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the fifth-round of the of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. The Victoria, BC native was a four-year player at Michigan State University from 2005-2009 appearing in 151 games while posting 106 points (50g, 56a).

Paul Crowder, 26, has posted 13 points (5g, 8a) in 20 games with Utah this season. Last season, the 6'3, 203-lb forward, appeared in 79 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack (AHL) registering 26 points (12g, 14a). A native of Victoria, BC, Crowder played three seasons at the University of Alaska-Anchorage compiling 80 points (32g, 48a) in 107 appearances. The 6'3", 203-lb forward spent three seasons in the BCHL with Powell, Coquitlam, and Burnaby.

"We are excited about the addition of both Paul and Tim to our lineup," said Nailers Head Coach Stan Drulia. "Both players instantly boost our depth and size up front, and will contribute offensively."

Marshall, 25, has 22 points in 27 games played with the Nailers this season. The Buffalo, Minnesota native has posted 6 points (4g, 2a) in 26 games in the American Hockey League this season with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Worcester, and Rochester. Marshall split time last season between the Lake Erie Monsters (AHL), and the Charlotte Checkers (ECHL) where he scored 34 points in 55 games. Prior to his professional career, Marshall was a four-year player at Quinnipiac University from 2005-2009.

Both Tim and Paul Crowder are expected to be in the lineup on Wednesday evening when the Nailers travel to Elmira to take on the Jackals at 7:05 p.m. Fans may tune into the game on The Mix 97.3, or watch the game on RTV9. The Nailers return to WesBanco Arena on Friday against division rival Cincinnati. Game time is 7:35 p.m. The first 2,500 fans will receive a free Brad Paisley Bobble Head.
