Atlanta Gladiators News Release
NORTH CHARLESTON, SC - Edward Pasquale stopped 36 of 37 shots, and the Gwinnett Gladiators picked up their fourth win in a row Tuesday night against the South Carolina Stingrays at North Charleston Coliseum.
This was the last meeting of the season between Gwinnett (26-25-7) and South Carolina (32-22-4). The Glads went 6-9-1 against SC, but won the last three meetings between the teams.
Despite several brilliant scoring chances in the first both goaltenders came up big and the score stayed even through 20 minutes.
Danick Paquette picked up where he left off on Sunday to open the scoring. Coming off a two goal, one assist performance in a win over Reading, Paquette beat Shane Owen low glove side on a breakaway at 4:27 to give Gwinnett the lead. Paquette's 13th tally of the season was assisted by John-Scott Dickson and Paul Flache.
Mike Forney added to the lead at 11:48, potting his 15th shorthanded on a wrist shot from the far dot. Andy Brandt and Sam Roberts had the helpers, and the Glads took a 2-0 edge into the third period despite logging just five shots in the second.
Justin Milo pushed the lead to three against his former team, blasting a slapshot past Owen on the powerplay at 11:15. Brandt and Flache had their second helpers of the night on the goal.
Nikita Kashirsky's goal with 1:26 remaining in the third broke up the shutout, but was too little too late. The loss for SC snaps their four-game unbeaten streak.
Gwinnett returns home Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. for a matchup with the Trenton Devils.
