Salmon Kings Get Shantz Back from Moose

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that goaltender David Shantz has been re-assigned to the team by Manitoba of the American Hockey League (AHL).

The Burlington, ON native returns from his first AHL call-up of the season this past Saturday and did not see any action with the Moose.

The 24-year-old has appeared in 44 games with the Salmon Kings this season, posting a 21-19-3 record along with a 0.909 save percentage, a 2.79 goals against average and two shutouts. Shantz currently leads all ECHL goaltenders this season with 2,577 minutes played while he ranks second with 1,199 saves. Additionally, Shantz has twice earned the Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week award this season with the Salmon Kings.

Shantz was a second round pick (#37 overall) of the Florida Panthers in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

The Salmon Kings welcome the Bakersfield Condors to the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre for a three game series this week beginning tomorrow.
