WORCESTER, M.A. - A pair of late long balls gave the Buffalo Bisons (13-20) a 4-2 win in the series finale over the Worcester Red Sox (17-16) on Saturday afternoon in front of 6,659 at Polar Park.

WooSox starter Chris Murphy turned in one of the best outings of his season, allowing one earned run in 4.2 innings of work. The left-hander struck out three and walked two, allowing the lone run in the third on a sac-fly to Spencer Horwitz.

Worcester gave Murphy an early lead, starting the bottom of the first inning with a Greg Allen single. Allen stole second, his 17th swiped bag of the season, and after two outs, scored on a Daniel Palka single.

Allen has the most stolen bases without being caught in professional baseball, while Palka recorded his sixth RBI in his last five games.

Buffalo's run against Murphy came in the third, but the WooSox regained the advantage in the fifth. Marcus Wilson cracked a leadoff double off the wall in left, Allen walked and Niko Goodrum made it 2-1 with an RBI single. With the swing, Goodrum notched his 12th RBI of the season and has now reached base 12 times in his last five games.

Justin Garza got the final out of the fifth, but allowed the tying run in the sixth on a Davis Schneider solo home run to left. Two innings later, the Bisons took the lead on a two-run shot by Rafael Lantigua to right-center.

The second long ball came off Joe Jacques (0-2), who allowed his first two earned runs since April 11, snapping a streak of nine straight scoreless outings.

Worcester put runners in scoring position in the sixth and seventh, but failed to score.

Despite the defeat, the WooSox close the 13-game homestand with a 9-4 record and victories in nine of their last 11 games.

The WooSox are off Monday before beginning a six-game road trip on Tuesday night at 6:05 p.m. against the Rochester Red Wings, affiliate of the Washington Nationals. On the mound, Bryan Mata (0-2, 4.63) is set to get the start. Radio coverage is live at 5:45 p.m. on 100.1 FM The Pike, 98.9 Nash Icon and the WooSox Radio Network.
