
IronPigs Offense Explodes to Secure Third-Straight Win

Syracuse, New York - A five-run fifth inning fueled the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (17-15) to their third-straight victory, defeating the Syracuse Mets (15-18) 8-4 on Sunday afternoon at NBT Bank Stadium.
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the third when the Mets scored their first run of the game off of an RBI single from Tim Locastro.
Jake Cave walked to start the fourth before Weston Wilson sent him home with an RBI double to tie the game 1-1. Scott Kingery added a sacrifice fly to score Wilson and put Lehigh Valley up 2-1.
Lehigh Valley's offense exploded in the fifth when Jake Cave hit a ground-rule double to score John Hicks and send Esteban Quiroz to third. Wilson drilled a three-run homer before Simon Muzziotti added a solo homerun to put Lehigh Valley up 7-1.
Syracuse scored its second run of the game in the sixth with a solo homerun from Mark Vientos.
Wilson continued his hot streak at the plate in the seventh inning with a sacrifice fly to score Quiroz and put the IronPigs up 8-2.
Syracuse cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the eighth with a two-run homer from Locastro. Trey Cobb entered the game for Lehigh Valley with one out and Mets on first and second before retiring the final two Syracuse batters to keep the IronPigs up 8-4 going into the ninth.
In his second rehab outing of the week, Ranger Suarez (1-0) picked up the win for Lehigh Valley. Suarez threw 35 strikes in 48 pitches, allowing just one run in five innings, while striking out three. In total, Suarez went seven innings during the series, allowing one run on four hits with one walk and four strikeouts.
Humberto Mejia (1-3) took the loss for the Mets after allowing seven runs in 4.1 innings on seven hits, two walks and two strikeouts.
The IronPigs now return home to Coca-Cola Park to kick off a six-game series against the Memphis Redbirds beginning on Tuesday, May 9. First pitch is slated for 11 a.m.
