Mudbugs/PODS Food Drive Underway at the Ctc
November 19, 2010 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release
BOSSIER CITY, LA - With Thanksgiving coming up next week, the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs have teamed up with PODS (Portable On Demand Storage) for our annual holiday food drive. This years effort, which has already begun at the CenturyTel Center, includes a football twist that lets the fans decide whether we wear jerseys styled after the New Orleans Saints or Dallas Cowboys for our Pucks & Pigskins game on Sunday, No vember 28!
Each year the Mudbugs challenge our fans to bring donations for our food drive benefitting the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana, with
serves over 55,000 hungry individuals within a seven-parish area of Northwest Louisiana.
This year however, football fans get to decide which of our areas two most popular NFL teams will be represented while helping the food bank fight hunger here in Northwest Louisiana!
Between now and Sunday, November 28, drop off donations of non-perishable food items in the name of the Cowboys or the Saints to the PODS outside the CenturyTel Center or to the Mudbugs office inside. Whichever fans step up and donate the most food will get to see the Bugs take the ice in their teams colors for the game against Mississippi on Sunday, November 28.
The Mudbugs will wear the jerseys modeled after the team that loses in the food drive during pre-game warm-ups that day, so both clubs will be represented. BOTH the Cowboys and Saints sets of uniforms will then be auctioned off to the fans following the game against the RiverKings!
Donations are being accepted at the Mudbugs office from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm on weekdays (except Thanksgiving Day and Friday 11/26). Non-perishable food can be placed in the PODS parked at the North side of the CenturyTel Center at the following times: through today, on Tuesday 11/23 and Wednesday 11/24 during regular business hours, on Saturday 11/27 from 10 am to 2 pm and on Sunday 11/28 between 9 am and noon.
Saints and Cowboys collection bins will also be set up on the concourse during our Food Drive game on Tuesday, November 23 against Missouri. The opening puck drops at 6:35 pm as we encourage you to bring food donations when you come to the game.
The total weight of all the food donated in the name of the Saints and Cowboys will then be tallied on Sunday afternoon to determine which teams jerseys the Mudbugs wear during the game and which they will sport during pre-game warm-ups.
Opening faceoff is set for 4:05 pm for our Pucks & Pigskins game as the Bugs take on the rival RiverKings.
Mini-plans and group ticket packages for all home games are available now through the Mudbugs office at 752-BUGS. Individual tickets are on sale through Ticketmaster at 318-741-9700, online at www.ticketmaster.com or at the CenturyTel Center main box office.
Season and group tickets are on sale by calling 318-752-BUGS (2847) or by visiting our website at www.mudbugshockey.com.
