Gems Announce OSU Vs. Michigan Night
November 19, 2010 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Dayton Gems News Release
Dayton, OH- The Dayton Gems announced today that the game against the Bloomington PrairieThunder on Saturday, November 27th at 7:30 p.m. will be known as Ohio State vs. Michigan theme night. One of the biggest rivalries in all of college football is Ohio State vs. Michigan and with the football game being played on the same day (at Noon) it is only fitting that the Gems carry out the rivalry amongst the fans attending their game against Bloomington (7:30 p.m.).
The first 500 fans through the door will "Choose their Allegiance" by selecting a rally towel with the Gems logo colored in either Scarlet & Gray (for Ohio State fans) or Maize & Blue (for Michigan fans). Also, anyone attending the game that night will receive $2.00 off the regular ticket price for wearing their Ohio State or Michigan apparel. Throughout the night both Ohio State and Michigan fight songs will be played over the sound system and all of the intermission activities will be competitions matching Ohio State fans up against Michigan fans. Mark Baker, Trotwood-Madison high school's current Head Basketball Coach (and former Ohio State point guard) will drop the ceremonial first puck that evening as well.
That night will feature the first time this season that Bloomington makes their way into Dayton and only the second time the two teams will have met. The Gems won the first meeting in Bloomington back on October 30th by the score of 4-2, despite being outshot by the PrairieThunder 48-28. Goaltender Jeff Jakaitis stole the show by stopping 46 of 48 shots and rookie defenseman Paul Ferraro scored the game-winning-goal.
Individual game tickets are available for purchase in advance. For more information call the Gems offices at 937-275-7777 or log onto our website at www.daytongems.com . The Gems play their next four games on the road before returning home to Hara Arena on Thanksgiving Night (Thursday, November 25th) to take on the Evansville IceMen at 7:30 p.m. The Kettering Medical Center is proud to be the official title sponsor of the Gems for the 2010-11 season.
