Mudbugs Rally To Beat Bees 3-2

HIDALGO, Texas- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (6-5-2) opened a two-goal lead on the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs (11-4-0) in the first period but the ‘Bugs would score three unanswered goals to come away victorious 3-2. The Bees were led by Darcy Campbell who scored a pair of goals. Dan Rosen, who was making his second start in net of the season, made 29 saves on the 32 shots he faced.

The Killer Bees opened the scoring at 3:41 in the first period as Darcy Campbell would start his multi-goal evening with a backhanded score. Dan Gendur fed the puck to a streaking Campbell in front. After have initial trouble controlling the puck Campbell was able to kick it to himself and then backhanded it past the Mudbug netminder John DeCaro.

Darcy Campbell would strike again about four minutes later with a rip from inside the circles. Campbell lifted the wrist shot high glove side beating the sliding DeCaro after the pass from Tomas Klempa.

After the 1st intermission the Mdgbugs would launch their comeback starting at the 4:58 mark of the second as Steven Crampton one-timed a pass from Travis Clayton to the back of the net on the odd-man rush. The Mudbugs would tie the game at the 15:36 mark of the second period when Justin Aikins ripped a shoot from the top of the circles past Rosen.

In the third period the Mudbugs would score the only goal they needed at the 2:51 mark of the third. Travis Clayton earned his second assist of the night finding a streaking Joe Blaznek in front who beat Rosen high glove-side.
