Sundogs Claim Defenseman Laurysen off Waivers

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - Arizona Sundogs Head Coach and General Manager Marco Pietroniro announced today the team has claimed defenseman Corey Laurysen off waivers from the Rapid City Rush.

Laurysen, 25, appeared in seven games with the Rush this season collecting four penalty minutes (PIM) and a plus-2 rating.

The 5-foot-11, 205-pound d-man first joined the Rush for the 2010 Central Hockey League Playoffs after completing a four-year playing career at Sacred Heart University (NCAA) in Fairfield, Connecticut. In 10 postseason appearances to start his pro career, Laurysen tallied one goal and two assists en route to the Ray Miron Presidents' Cup Championship.

In four seasons at Sacred Heart, the Carp, Ontario, native amassed seven goals, 26 assists and 162 PIM.

Laurysen may join the Sundogs (3-7-2) as early as tonight when they look for their second straight win and points in four straight against the Fort Wayne Komets (2-6-1).
