Laredo Bucks News Release
LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League fell to the Texas Brahmas 3-1 Friday night at Laredo Energy Arena. The Bucks lost their fifth game in a row to fall to 4-7-1 (nine points) on the season.
The Bucks have lost five straight games in regulation for the first time in franchise history.
For the second straight home game the Bucks found themselves down 3-0 early in the first period.
The Brahmas (6-3-1, 13 points) jumped out in front just 51 seconds into the game when Chad Woollard jammed in the puck from the left side of the crease to net his sixth goal of the season.
Texas improves to 3-0-1 in their last four games.
Texas increased their lead to 2-0 at the 7:09 mark of the first when Mick Lawrence was credited with a goal as the puck was re-directed into the net from the slot. The strike was Lawrence's fifth of the season.
Calin Wild made it 3-0 Brahmas at the 10:33 mark when he scored from the crease to notch his fifth goal of the season.
After Wild's goal the Bucks pulled Torrie Jung and replaced him with Pier Pelletier. Jung stopped five of eight shots he faced in the first period.
The Bucks (2-4-1 at home) were outshot 12-8 in the first period.
The Bucks cut the Brahmas lead to 3-1 with 6:56 left in the second period when Justin Styffe picked up a loose puck at center ice and raced by the Texas defense and hammered in slap shot from the top of circle. The tally was Styffe's first since last season.
