
Mud Hens Deny Tides in !0th, 4-2

July 16, 2007 - Toledo's Brent Clevlen slugged a two-run homer in the top of the 10th inning, lifting the visiting Mud Hens to a 4-2 win over the Tides Monday night from Harbor Park.
Clevlen, who was named the International League's Batter of the Week on Monday afternoon, drilled an 0-1 offering from reliever Victor Moreno (1-4) deep into left-center field, scoring Jack Hannahan and giving the Mud Hens the lead.
Mud Hens' closer Aquilino Lopez retired the side in order in the bottom of the 10th inning to pick up his 16th save of the season.
Toledo jumped out to an early lead off of Tides' starter Tim Kester, plating a run in the top of the second on an RBI double by Dane Sardinha.
Norfolk answered back in their half of the second, as Terry Tiffee extended his hitting streak to nine games with a solo home run into right-center field off of Toledo starter Dennis Tankersley. Over the nine-game stretch, Tiffee is hitting .342 (13-for-38) with two home runs and nine RBI.
The Mud Hens took back the lead in the third inning on an RBI double by Hannahan, and the score stayed 2-1 in fafor of Toledo until Norfolk tied it up with a two-out single by Cesar Crespo in the bottom of the 7th inning.
Tike Redman singled in the 6th inning, the 25th straight game in which the 30-year-old outfielder has reached base safely.
J.R. House finished with two hits for Norfolk, while Hannahan led Toledo's nine-hit attack with three base knocks.
The Tides and Mud Hens continue their four-game set Tuesday night, with Jim Johnson (4-8, 4.03) set to take the hill for Norfolk against right-hander Virgil Vasquez (8-3, 4.15). First pitch from Harbor Park is set for 7:15.
