FORT MILL, S.C. - July 16, 2007 - The Charlotte Knights made the first place Buffalo Bison look like a team in the basement in their 11-4 win Monday night. The Knights built an 8-0 lead and never looked back as they pounded out 16 hits on the night.
With the Knights leading 1-0 in the bottom of the 4th, outfielder Ryan Sweeney hit his first grand slam of the season making it 5-0. Teammate Danny Richar continues to have the hot bat by going 4-5 and with three runs. Richar is hitting .358 since joining the Knights.
Darin Erstad joined Charlotte for a rehabilitation assignment on Monday from Chicago. Erstad led off for the Knights playing centerfield, getting a single in his first at-bat. He finished 1-4 with one RBI. Vladimir Nunez (4-9, 5.56) picked up the win for the Knights. John Koronka (0-1, 7.36) took the loss for the Bisons.
The two teams continue their four-game series on Tuesday at 12:15 p.m.
