Koronka Added to Bisons Roster

The Buffalo Bisons today announced that LHP John Koronka has been activated to the roster. The Cleveland Indians claimed him off waivers from the Texas Rangers on Monday, July 9 and optioned him to the Herd.

Koronka is expected to start tonight as the Bisons are in Charlotte to face the Knights at Knights Stadium (7:15 p.m., WECK AM 1230, WSPQ AM 1330, Bisons.com).

Koronka, 27, has spent most of the 2007 season at Triple-A Oklahoma where he went 6-4 with a 4.41ERA in 14 starts (83.2IP, 88H, 41ER, 37BB, 53K). He also made two starts with the Texas Rangers from May 19-30, going 0-2 with a 7.84ERA in 2 starts (10.1IP, 16H, 9R/ER, 5BB, 2K). He was designated for assignment by Texas on July 1.

Koronka owns a career Major League record of 8-11 with a 6.02ERA in 29 games (151.0IP, 180H, 101ER, 60BB, 73K) with the Rangers and Chicago Cubs. He was acquired by the Rangers on March 31, 2006 in exchange for OF Freddie Bynum. He was originally drafted in the 12th round of the 1998 draft by the Cincinnati Reds out of high school. He was later acquired by the Cubs for LHP Phil Norton in August 2003.
